Giants roster breakdown: Ranking every player’s chance of making the team

What you have to appreciate is his unseen production, Giants general manager Dave Gettleman said of Carter shortly after selecting him in the third-round of last month’s NFL Draft. If he is flying off the edge, he is creating pressure. Sometimes you are looking at guys that create plays for others. You have to look at that. That is part of it. At the end of the day, he does not have ginormous sack numbers, not a lot of these guys do.

Last season, Pierre-Paul accounted for 8.5 sacks, his highest output since 2014.

After dealing away Pierre-Paul and moving to a 3-4 front under new defensive coordinator James Bettcher, the Giants drafted Carter, as well as defensive linemen B.J. Hill and R.J. McIntosh.

Arizona also has seven other cornerbacks on its roster — Brandon Williams, Bené Benwikere, Jonathan Moxey, Lou Young III, sixth-round pick Chris Campbell and undrafted free agents Tavierre Thomas and Deatrick Nichols.

Williams expected to be in the mix for a roster spot after signing with the Cardinals on April 19.

He spent time with the Jets and the Texans last season, making one interception in the 15 games he played.

Williams originally singed with the Texans as an undrafted free agent in 2014. He joined the Jets after the Texans waived him from the practice squad.

He has played 49 career games with 15 starts, making 10 interceptions and 27 pass breakups.

Brandon Crawford takes Gerrit Cole, the husband of his sister Amy, deep for a two-run homer and the family reaction is interesting.
